Internship Program
The Tones Studios Internship Program is an unpaid, education-focused internship opportunity for individuals interested in professional audio production, video production, live event production, creative services, and studio operations.
The program is designed for individuals located in the Greater Rochester area who want meaningful exposure to the day-to-day work of a professional recording and creative production studio. Internships may also be used to help satisfy college, university, trade school, technical program, or other academic requirements when approved by the applicable school or program.
Interns may have opportunities to observe, assist, and learn in connection with real recording sessions, live events, live performance capture, video production, client hospitality, studio setup, equipment care, and general studio operations.
Program Overview
The internship typically lasts 8 to 12 weeks and generally requires a minimum commitment of approximately 8 hours per week.
Because studio work is client-driven, scheduling may include a combination of fixed weekly hours, sessions scheduled in advance, live events, and occasional short-notice learning opportunities.
The program is flexible rather than divided into rigid tracks. Depending on the intern’s interests, experience, availability, and Tones Studios’ current schedule, interns may gain exposure to areas such as:
Audio production and recording sessions
Microphone setup, signal flow, and session preparation
Editing, file organization, and production support
Video production, camera support, and lighting support
Live performance capture and live events
Studio operations, client interaction, and facility readiness
Who Should Apply
The program is intended for applicants who are at least 18 years old, located in or able to regularly travel to the Greater Rochester area, and seriously interested in learning within a professional studio environment.
Applicants enrolled in a college, university, trade school, technical program, or other educational program are encouraged to apply. Tones Studios may also consider non-student applicants who have a clear educational purpose, career-development goal, or documented learning objective.
Ideal applicants are reliable, responsive, humble, professional, flexible, and willing to learn in real-world environments.
Compensation
All internships through the Tones Studios Internship Program are unpaid.
The program is designed for education, observation, mentoring, training, and practical exposure. Participation in the internship does not guarantee employment, paid work, independent contractor opportunities, or continued studio access.
Separately approved paid client opportunities may be available in limited situations, but all such work must be approved by Tones Studios in advance and billed through Tones Studios.
